Camp Jenney is named after a CF patient named Tim Jenney. Tim was a patient at UNMC for many years. Tim observed his favorite nurses going off to asthma camp year after year. One of his nurses was Barb Clinkenbeard. He asked her why there was no camp for kids with CF to go to, like asthma camp. She had no answer for him. Before he died he made Barb promise that she would do her best to start up a camp for kids with CF. That she did, with the help of the CF team at UNMC and Dee Acquazzinno. Camp Jenney was started in 1987. The group Concerned Nebraskans for Cystic Fibrosis (CNCF) have generously raised money to fund the camp since that time. The CF team managed the camp with the help of numerous volunteers for many years until the American Lung Association took over the management in 1994. The ALA managed the camp until 2004. Since 2005 Camp Jenney has been managed by the CNCF. Since 1987, Camp Jenney has been changing the lives of kids with Cystic Fibrosis. Life-long friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to just be like everyone else is what Camp Jenney has to offer. Many kids look forward to their week at Camp Jenney all year long. It is a week where they can just be kids. Camp Jenney has been sponsored by the Concerned Nebraskans for Cystic Fibrosis (CNCF) since the very first year. We are pleased to have the camp at YMCA Camp Kitaki and feel that it is the finest of camping facilities. We know your camper will agree. The best news of all is that not one child has to pay to go to Camp Jenney. The CNCF works hard all year round raising money to send you child to camp, ensuring that wonderful childhood memories take place. The safety of your child with CF is of the utmost importance. We provide volunteer nurses, respiratory therapists, and physicians to provide care to your child the entire week of camp. We also screen every child to make sure they are healthy enough to come to camp for the health of all the campers. We are able to cater to the special needs of kids with Cystic Fibrosis. The challenges of living with Cystic Fibrosis can be huge but conquering the rock wall can be such sweet success. We know your child will have the best week of their year at Camp Jenney.
